Two weeks ago this former student of the Royal Naval Cookery School had his first novel published as an e-book. On Wednesday it was published in print form, three weeks earlier than planned. Yesterday it achieved the number one ranking spot on Amazon Kindle for military fiction and number two for historical thrillers. Next month the author will begin a series of book signings and radio interviews.
Who would have thought 28 years ago he would have progressed from making iced buns to having his first novel published? As it happens he was never a chef and his writing is better than his cooking.
